Look of the Day!

Image
Well the New Year will be here in 2 days, and women all over are looking for that perfect New Years' dress! This look will be perfect if you're in Californina, or if you aren't afraid to do a coat check, because weather is slowly dropping in many states. I think she looks gorgeous, and her natural hair fits the look. Actually it completes the Look!

Hair of the Day!

She is so gorgeous, and her hair is amazing!

The Bowl Cut!

Image
This was another look that many celebs brought back in 2010! Some did well, some did not look well at all. You be the judge! I think they would all look fantastic Natural, if you ask me!

Shaved sides w/ Perm! This look Again

Image
Okay, this look is very unique I do agree, but sometimes I wonder. Do women do this for actual fashion, style, or is it because their hair fell out on that one side, or just broke off? lol  Hey, I'm human, so I do wonder, Okay. I mean, it's like. Hey, My hair fell out on one side, so I'm going to hold on to the rest of my hair, and shave this side off. When it grows back, I'll just cut my hair really short!
That's my whole idea on this style, but you never know. This may not always be the case,  but I do know that this style took over in 2010.
I wonder what style will be prominent in 2011. Just know that if you're doing this for fashion and personal style try making it your own, and treat your hair.

Meagan Good's Club Look

Image
Meagan was caught outside of a Trousdale nightclub with this random outfit on, an over sized tank that was not meant to be over sized. some really really short shorts on, a black leather jacket, brown suede knee-high boots, and to complete the look. An original Louis Vuitton coin purse. I'm going to leave this alone and let you decide on the look. All I know, her face was pretty!

Jennifer Hudson give honor to Oprah Winfrey

Image
Jennifer Hudson received a complete standing ovation after singing a powerful tribute to Oprah Winfrey at the Kennedy Center Honors on yesterday, with the help of the TSU Choir. She performed "I'm Here" from the Oprah-produced Broadway play, "The Color Purple."  She looked stunning with her hair pulled back, and her evening gown.

Check out Hudson's moving tribute to Oprah Winfrey.

Solange speaks about Her Natural Hair

Image
On a recent photo shoot Solange spoke out about her being natural. Looks like she did the whole transitioning thing. This is when you wear hairstyles that are most of the time natural looks. Such as two strand twist, braids, straw sets, or maybe wigs. Doing this allows the natural hair to grow while still holding on to permed ends. This is not always a good thing to do, because the permed hair can tangle with the new growth and break. You must be extra wise when doing this transition.
Here is a question that was asked during the interview with Solange during her shoot:
What inspired the bold new ‘do?
You mentioned you can no longer hide with that hair, has it changed the way you see yourself?

“When I was recording, I was staying in a house with five guys and two showers. I knew there would be a shower wait everyday and with my natural cropped hair, it’s mandatory that I wash it otherwise it gets stuck to my head like glue! I wanted to get something that I could literally roll out of bed…

Look of the Day!

Image
What a relaxed look! This is another everyday look that has a drop of fashion, and I am a fan of oversized shirts with tights. This look isn't going anywhere although it has a vintage flare. Try this look out. Mix with patterns and textures. Make it your own!

Hair of the Day!

Image
Many Naturals may recognize this young lady's face. During my natural hair research I ran across her Youtube channel and was so moved about her hair growth. Today she wins the title "Hair of the Day" for being creative and stylist.

Ms. Luka Lomi revamped her two strand twist into an updo. This is always great, because when someone does this style it's like 3-in-1. When you're done with the two strand twist, pull it up. When you're done with the updo, take it down and undo the twist. Now you have a gorgeous curly fro. Love it!

Stretching Natural Hair W/O Heat!

Image
As us Naturals all know, hair shrinkage is such a pain in the butt. Our hair could be past our earlobes when stretched out, but appears to be above the earlobe when not pulled. Why is this? Well, it's because of our curly/coily hair type. It's the make-up of our beautiful hair. It's curly!!! and curls are like springs. They bounce right back. Some folks choose to permanently get rid of this curl by perming their hair, some keep their hair flat ironed or pressed constantly.
These two actions leads to SERIOUS long term damage to the hair texture, hair strand, and scalp. Too much Heat is never a good idea! So I will never recommend you using heat to see true length. There are other ways of seeing more length without using heat, and I will give you a few ideas. Guess what the first on is?!

TWO STRAND TWIST:
How about doing a lovely two-strand twist! That's right, doing two-strand twists shows more length than a wash and go. Wash and gos' tend to make the hair stay in pl…

ATTENTION: 6 Rules for Black Hair!

Image
If you want healthy hair, If you want to actually see your hair grow, If you want to make sure that your hair is not dry and brittle, Keep these 6 Rules in Mind!
Rule #1: Avoid Bad Hair Product Ingredients: Many commercially available hair care products denoted for African American or ethnic hair use harmful ingredients. Be certain to check the ingredients in your hair care products. Some ingrediants are awful for ethnic or African American hair, not only affecting African American and Ethnic hair’s health, true texture, and hair growth, but also harmful to the body. (Look at the tabs above to see what ingrediants are harmful to our hair)

Rule #2: Avoid Hair Coloring, Rinses, and Dyes. Look on the pack of the ingredient label and check for FD & C Colors. Many individuals with African American or Ethnic hair experience scalp irritation due to these. If you have an irritated scalp ,your hair will not grow long or remain healthy.

Rule #3: Avoid Hair Products with Synthetic Fragrances: …

Hair of the Day!

Image
Thanks to a fellow blogger, I ran across this pic and not only is this young woman beautiful, but her hair is gorgeous. I love the texture (4B/4C, check out my "Hair Guide" section for more info), and how well it fits her face.

She is rocking out this TWA well! This style can be accomplish by doing a wash and go! I actually rock this look alot right now.

Beyonce trying the Natural Look 'Again'

Image
A few months ago, Mrs. Beyonce was caught at the Tom Ford fashion show held at the Tom Ford store on Madison Avenue in New York City rocking the natural look. Something tells me that she is actually a natural, but wears alot of wigs. She is known for wearing lace-fronts, so we'll never know, but these roots look naturally curly if you ask me. Go B!

Look of the Day! Before and After

Image

Since Ms. Solange Knowles decided to go natural, her fashion choices have been amazing. She is looking better than ever before, and she has chosen many vintage looks here recently. Her Before and After isn't a huge difference in style, but confidence does show.
She wins the title "Look of the Day!"

Picture of the Week!

Image
There is nothing, and no one that compares to a confident Black woman, Natural Hair all the way!

Erykah Badu

Image
I seriously knew that this woman would change her hair again. She was caught just about two months ago with a platinum blonde bowl cut wig, now she has braids. She was caught taking over a DJ Booth in NYC. I am sure she'll have a different hairstyle in no time.

Blessings!

Image
I pray everyone had a fantastic Christmas! I did. I spent time with the family and my oldest nephew bought me a wonderful gift all on his own. That was the most special moment for me last week.  I love my little guys. My mom bought me exactly what I needed, and my sis got me an amazing gift. My Dad sent me the sweetest Christmas card ever. I have the greatest Family and Friends Yesterday, my sis must have known that I had too much on my mind. I recieved a call from her, she said "Sis, what are you doing? Let's go grab a bite!" Only God knows how much I needed that, I love her! This morning I recieved an amazing phone call, yet, another blessing! God is closing this year off with a bang, and I am so excited for another year to begin. Thank God for another year.
So that was my weekend in a nutshell. Filled with Blessings and Love!

Look of the Day! Celebrity Style

Image
Ciara, Chris Brown, and Fabolous took a group pic in NYC after a New York Knicks vs. Oklahoma City Thunder game at the Madison Square Garden. They should all win the award, but Ciara is the center of attention, literally. The "Look of the Day" goes to her! She wore a red leather jacket with dark skinny jeans, and those lovely Christian Louboutin boots, MY Goodness I want a pair! Just a couple of months ago it was reported that Ciara spent over $11,000 on shoes alone in one month. So I am sure she is covered in that department. Unless their all Christian Louboutins right! She looks simple, but sometimes that's the key to true fashion!

NeNe Leakes from Real Housewives of ATL!

Image
I am all for expressing yourself "Naturally" but not everyone is meant to be blonde!
Now, for one it is totally damaging to the hair and scalp if not properly done, or maintained.
For two, it clashes big time. I do not like it personally, she would look so much better with darker hair. In the end, it's what she likes right!

Hair of the Day!

Image
This look reminds me of women at the church house, classy women! The look is back and it's just as chic! Natural hair makes it better than ever before, the texture makes the look stand out! I love it!

The love of Jojoba Oil!

Image
Some folks may ask, What is Jojoba Oil? Or Simmodsia Chinensis on some ingredient labels. For a very long time Native Americans have used this all natural oil to help heal sores and wounds. Jojoba oil is still most commonly used for cosmetic purposes, particularly for the maintenance of healthy skin, scalp, and hair strand.
*Important: Just like our skin, the scalp also needs to be moisturized. When the skin is dry you can see visible wrinkles. The same thing happens when the scalp is dry, excessive skin develops in the affected area, causing itchy flakes to appear. The scalp is quite sensitive and it produces sebum where the hair follicles are implanted, which is the reason why the scalp needs extra care.
*Remember:
A healthy scalp grows healthy hair!
Our scalp produces sebum. Jojoba Oil is very similar to sebum, the oil in which our scalp produces. That is why jojoba oil is perfect for our scalp. Instead of clogging our scalp, like mineral oil and other bad products, Jojoba oil is abso…

The Chic Look

Image
This photo speaks for itself. This is an example of pure chic. Try it out!

Attention Naturals-Say YES to Headbands.

Image
If you have a TWA, like myself, say yes to headbands when you feel like giving your look a little spark. They're also great for women with longer natural hair. Don't be afraid to rock your curly hair out, just be sure that it's moisturized with a natural oil, and protective styling often, but when you feel like wearing your hair out, a headband every now and then isn't a bad idea. Here are a few looks!

Hair of the Day!

Image
This lovely hairstyle is great for the season, and can make any outfit stand out even more! I can not wait to do this hair style on my own hair, once I see more growth. Love It!
