Reviews: Cantu Shea Butter Leave in Conditioner

Overall Rating is 4.2
Below is a product that I was interested in using. I have a friend that has been natural all of her life that uses this product, but isn't hugely aware of what products to use. This product says Shea Soft, and promotes shea butter fully, and it does contain Shea Butter as the second ingredient. It also contains a product I try to stay away from as the 4th ingredient, Propylene Glycol! (Click on my tab above-Bad Hair Ingredients for more on this). Other than this, it has alot of artificial ingredients in it, in which, when used alot can do more harm than good. This product can be found at Wal-Mart for about $6.00, I tried it for myself, and it is not the best product. It does moisturize the hair strand. I stayed away from my scalp while using this product. Try it for yourself.

Bad & Good
I really dislike this product!
1.) "I had bought Cantu Shea Butter in preparation for cutting the relaxed ends off my hair. Particularly, after I'd seen many rave reviews about it on the Internet...However, whenever I have used it, it's made my hair feel very gummy. Not to mention the little white spots that appear after the product dries. My hair is SUPER absorbent, so I know it's the product. I've tried to use this product to twist my hair, or just as a regular leave-in--yet, I've been unsuccessful.(I have very curly, African American/Caribbean hair btw.) I'm about to throw my Cantu Shea Butter in the trash. If you want to try something MUCH better that's in a similar price range as this product; I'd recommend Elasta QP Mango Butter. It's excellent, and doesn't leave a residue like the Cantu Shea Butter.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Cantu, where have you been all my life?!
2.) "I am an African-American woman with very short natural hair with no chemicals. I've been trying different products to style my hair and define my natural curl pattern. Cantu works wonders! After washing my hair, I apply Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioner, and it brings out my natural curls and leaves my hair so shiny and healthy looking. It doesn't make my hair hard like gels often do. And it doesn't take much to achieve the look I want since my hair is so short. One thing I have noticed is that if you use TOO much of it, or have too much other product residue in your hair, it can cause a white residue in your hair that is not cute. Ha. So, make sure you don't use too much. Just experiment with it and see what works for you before knocking it! :)"
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
