A Hair Story: Michael Stutson (@StuddaBudda)

Michael Stutson
I would like to present to you Mr. Michael Stutson, or to most Studda Budda, a remarkable "Multi-Talented" fellow resigning in Oklahoma City. Studda was so kind to let me interview him on his Hair Journey....I Hope you become inspired!
Be sure to watch his new video below.
For more info, etc. Follow him on Twitter

Natural Expression: How long have you been Natural?
Studda Budda: I've been going natural for about 6 yrs. When I think about it, I started growing my hair naturally for a year. I'll say around '04...got it dreaded up for about 3 years, and then cut it out of stupidity, and just 2 go wit a natural fro for a year.  Coming up on my one year anniversary next month.
Natural Expression: How did you go natural? BC, Transition, Locs
Studda Budda: From fro 2 locs, I've always wanted them....had 'em a few times growing up, but nothing serious.

Natural Expression: What are your thoughts about Natural Hair?
Studda Budda: I love my hair....I feel it really represents me!

Natural Expression: Did going natural change you in any way?
Studda Budda: Yeah, I feel as if it humbled me....made me see the world  in a different manner....less toward the materialistic aspect, and giving me a more creative outlook on life.

Natural Expression: What would you tell someone who's considering Natural hair? And why they should?
Studda Budda: I'd say try it. Why not? It's just hair!

Natural Expression: What products are you currently using?
Studda Budda: Umm...an Australian  Black Bee's Wax, Jamaican Lime and Mango Twist & Lock, and Carol's Daughter Loc Butter.

Natural Expression: What's your hair regimen now & your favorite hair style?
Studda Budda: I work in front of people so I try 2 twist my hair every morning and every night 2 try and catch the new growth. I get lazy most of the time so I try and get into a real beauty shop at least once a month.

Natural Expression: What are some of the challenges you’ve encountered? Have you ever regretted going natural?
Studda Budda: Probably the biggest thing was...I grew out of my fitted caps. So I gotta buy a new set of hats, but other than that...the first stage is always the hardest, waiting for your hair 2 lock. So looking 4 the dug-rag after a long night of partying is probably the biggest obstacle.

Natural Expression: What have you learned about your hair? What mistakes have you made?
Studda Budda: I've learned, always at least try 2 keep it up. It's like the more respect you show for yourself, the more it shows through your hair. Even when times got had I would go 2 work and people would say, "I really like your hair," and it made me forget about everything I was going through and appreciate life. Twisting my hair in the morning, and feeling the sun-rays warm my chocolate skin has become one of my favorite times of the day. It gives me time 2 myself, 2  think, 2 plan, and be grateful for what I have...so with that being said, my biggest mistake has probably been not taking out any quality time for myself.

Natural Expression: Where can you be found (blog, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.)?
Studda Budda: Holla at me on my Twitter yo @StuddaBudda and around OKC tryin 2 sell some cds :)

I want to thank you for sharing your "Hair Story" to inspire and encourage  Naturals everywhere. Especially those who are locking it up. Much Love to you Buddy and may you continue to see growth! :-)
