Natural Expression: How long have you been natural?
Kimba: I’ve been natural a little over 2 years now.

Natural Expression: What made you decide to go natural? Why?

Kimba: I was always a natural at heart. Growing up…even in the height of my addiction to relaxers, I would love to look at naturals—especially those who had fros and locs. There was a point in my life where I said I wanted to look like that… I wanted to have natural hair. In 2003, I transitioned for a year and fell to the pressure of relaxing my hair again 9 months later. In 2009, I finally stopped being scared of what I thought people wanted of me and started transitioning into natural hair in late Decem…

Locks of the Day: Men Edition

I'm not even going to say a word!
Because all the ladies know what's up, but I will say...
I love men with locks!

Legendary Natural: Ledisi

When people hear the word "Legendary" they think of "Old" well, not in my book.
Ledisi has the right to be called a Natural Hair Legendary, because she's been doing it a while, and deeply loves her natural beauty & talents that God gave her.
She appreciate it, and we appreciate her!
GO LEDISI!!!

A Few Books Naturals Must Read!

Image
Right after I did the 'BC' I was unsure of what products to use, and what my journey would be like, but I knew deep down in my heart that I would never go back to the hair abuse (perms)!

Almost 2 years later, here I am! Happy as ever before with my natural hair and so much length. Before going natural, I was the woman who had every hairstyle you can think of. I've had 'em all, except the shaved off sides I guess. lol

In the beginning, I needed some encouragement to go natural, because it seemed like no one around me was doing it except one person, who was already natural. I spoke to my co-worker at the time who's been Natural for over 5 years, and she gave me a book that helped her during her journey, called, "Going Natural" this book helped me out tremendously...as well as the other below!

Here Are a list of Books I HIGHLY recommend everyone to read! Not only naturals. I've read them all, and can't say one bad thing about them. These books are for …

Legendary Natural: Chaka Khan

If it wasn't a wig...it was her Natural!
Much love to Chaka Khan
for being so unique and believing in true beauty, even then!

I HATE THIS STATEMENT!

Image
I am about to give to you one of the most SILLY statements I've ever heard someone say about natural hair, and I've heard it from so many people [That are NOT natural].
...Here it Goes and I quote!

"NATURAL HAIR IS NOT FOR EVERYONE"

PLEASE REMEMBER:
NATURAL HAIR IS NOT A STYLE! IT'S YOUR TEXTURE!

What the heck do you mean it is not for everyone!
God gave it to you...RIGHT?!
I can understand if someone says, "Not everyone know how to treat their Natural hair, so they should do something else." But saying that it's not for them is just Plain Stupid. I think Natural hair is for everyone, because God gave us curly hair not straight hair.
As usual, we change what God intended for us, but Don't allow anyone to tell you that Your hair, Your Good hair is not for you!
Be true to yourself...I'll rather hear someone say, I like wearing my hair straight. I like putting perms on my hair, but please do not say, "Natural Hair isn't for Everyone!"
